Diesel Oxidation Catalyst (DOC)

A DOC (Diesel Oxidation Catalyst) is a passive system designed to fight the carbon monoxides which are dangerous for humans.

DOC can also allow to reduce significantly the hydro carbons (HC).
On passing through the metal catalyst, harmful gas is retained on the cell walls covered with precious metals. Under the effect of temperature, then a thermal reaction transformed the gas into steam and carbon dioxide.

The oxidation reaction requires a minimum temperature of 250°C. If necessary it can be reached through a burner or electric resistors.
